Frequently Asked Dental Questions – Henrico, VA

Helping Address All of Your Dental Questions

Do you have any lingering questions about the services we offer? Would you like to learn how to take better care of your smile? Our friendly and compassionate team at Who Does Your Teeth is always happy to help. Below, we’ve outlined some of the most common questions we receive from our patients. If you don’t see the answers you’re looking for, please give us a call.

When should I bring my child in for an orthodontic evaluation?

At Who Does Your Teeth, we offer a wide range of orthodontic treatments, including Phase 1 Orthodontics for children that still have their baby teeth. We recommend that children come to us for an orthodontic evaluation between the ages of six and nine to reduce their chances of needing more extensive treatment down the road. Dr. Neal is a member of the International Association of Orthodontics™ and provides a range of solutions to address bite misalignment, crowding, and more.

Is there a difference in quality between traditional and same-day crowns?

Some patients believe that there’s a catch to the convenience of same-day crowns, but the truth is—there’s not! Traditional crowns are crafted in dental laboratories out of the same materials that we craft our same-day crowns from; however, we utilize CAD/CAM software to design and mill our crowns in-office. This limits the number of visits needed for this treatment, saving our patients time, all while offering the same high quality.

Is gum disease curable?

The answer to this question really depends on what stage of gum disease you have. While early signs of gingivitis can be reversed, like bleeding gums, gum recession and other symptoms can only be controlled. In any case, our teams will take the appropriate actions to help you maintain and preserve a healthy grin.

Is there a less-invasive alternative to veneers?

Some patients are hesitant to invest in veneers because it involves the permanent removal of a thin layer of tooth enamel. If you feel similarly, you may be a better candidate for our DuraThins and minimal prep veneers. These offer similar results without the extensive preparation required of traditional veneers.

What should I do if I have a dental emergency?

If you find yourself dealing with a dental emergency, call our office immediately. We’ll do everything we can to see you the same day so you don’t have to spend any longer than necessary in pain or discomfort.

I think I have TMJ disorder. Is there a way I can treat it?

Dr. Neal has completed a postgraduate residency program in TMJ disorders and treatments, making him a great person to see for this condition! We offer several treatment options to ease your jaw pain and other symptoms of your condition, like clicking and popping, including orthodontic bite correction to shift your joints into a healthy position, TENS machine treatment, occlusal splints, and occlusal adjustments.
